Hiking trail symbolLooking for more than a day hike? There are more than a dozen long-distance hiking trails that crisscross New York State, more than half of which traverse parks in the state parks system.

In all, 15 long-distance hiking trails make their way through the state (see a map), providing ample opportunities to explore New York’s outdoors on foot. Trails in bold are those that pass through one or more New York State Parks:

  • Appalachian Trail
  • Bristol Hills Trail
  • Conservation Trail
  • Crystal Hills Trail (part of the Great Eastern Trail)
  • Finger Lakes Trail
  • Highlands Trail
  • Letchworth Trail
  • Link Trail
  • Long Island Greenbelt Trail
  • Long Path
  • North Country Trail
  • Northville Placid Trail
  • Pine Barrens Trail (Paumanok Path)
  • Shawangunk Ridge Trail
  • Taconic Crest Trail
